RIW Field Privacy Policy
Red Ironworks · Effective October 20, 2026
RIW Field is the work app for employees of Red Ironworks ("we", "us"). It is used for daily safety checks, clocking in and out at job sites, timesheets, daily field reports, job materials and deliveries, onboarding, certifications and pay questions. Only people on the Red Ironworks worker list can sign in. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and who can see it.
What the app collects
Account details: your name, work email (used to sign in with a one-time code), role and job assignments.
Contact details you enter: phone number, home address, emergency contact, trade, union local number, and whether you are a journeyman or apprentice.
Location: your precise location when you clock in and when you clock out. See "Location" below.
Photos: pictures of certification cards (for example OSHA or SST cards), job site photos added to daily field reports, and photos of delivery tickets and delivered material. You take these with the camera or choose them from your photos; the app only uses the photos you pick.
Signatures: your signature on daily safety checks, safety check sign-offs, daily field reports and the employee handbook acknowledgement.
Work records: clock-in and clock-out times, who clocked you in or out, hours on timesheets, safety checks, certification details (type, card number, dates), daily field reports (work done, progress, any incident, and the pieces installed), deliveries checked in and any problems with them, and the pay questions you send with the replies to them.
Device details for notifications: if you allow notifications, a notification token for your phone and whether it is Android or iPhone, so the app can send you work alerts.
The app does not collect your Social Security number or bank details. Pay stubs and tax forms stay in ADP.
Location
When you clock in and out, the app checks your precise location to confirm you are at the job site, and saves it with that clock-in or clock-out.
While you are clocked in, your phone watches the job site boundary in the background. If you leave the site, the app clocks you out and records where you were at that moment. This is why the app asks to use your location "all the time".
The app does not record a continuous track of your movements, and it stops watching the site boundary when you clock out. It does not use your location at any other time.
When a foreman clocks in crew who do not have the app, the foreman's location is checked and saved, not the crew member's.
Foremen and office staff also record a job site's location when they set the site up.
You can turn location off in your phone's settings at any time; see "Your choices" below.
How we use it
To run the job: daily safety compliance, time keeping and payroll hours, crew assignments, job materials and deliveries, onboarding and certification tracking.
To send you work notifications, for example when the app clocks you out, when you are still clocked in late in the day, when a certification is about to expire, or (for foremen and office staff) reminders and alerts about their jobs.
To answer your pay questions.
To contact you or your emergency contact if needed.
We do not sell your information, we do not use it for advertising, and the app contains no advertising or third-party tracking.
Who can see it
You can see your own records in the app.
Foremen and project managers can see the crew information they need to run their jobs: assignments, hours, safety checks and sign-offs, clock-ins, certifications, daily field reports and deliveries.
Office staff (including accounting) can see worker records, certifications, onboarding and pay questions.
Service providers that run the app for us, who process the data only to provide their service:
Supabase - our database, file storage and sign-in.
The email service that sends sign-in codes.
Expo - delivers notifications and app updates.
Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) and Apple (Push Notification service) - deliver notifications to Android phones and iPhones. They receive the notification text and your phone's notification token.
When the law requires it, for example government agencies or insurers for safety and employment records.
How it is protected
Information is sent over encrypted connections. Access is limited by role, so each person can only see what their job needs. Certification, job site and delivery photos are kept in private storage that only you, your foremen and the office can open.
How long we keep it
We keep work records for as long as needed to run the business and to meet employment, payroll and safety record-keeping requirements. When you leave Red Ironworks, your app access is turned off. When you sign out, your phone's notification token is removed.
Your choices
Location: you can change location permission in your phone's settings at any time. Clocking in through the app needs your location. Automatic clock-out when you leave a site only works if location is allowed "all the time"; otherwise you must clock out yourself.
Notifications: you can turn notifications off in your phone's settings. The app still works, but you will not be told when it clocks you out or about reminders.
Camera and photos: only used when you add a certification card, job site photos or delivery photos; you can turn them off in your phone's settings.
Correcting or deleting information: you can update your contact details in the app. To ask for a copy of your information, a correction, or deletion of your account and personal information, contact the office (below). Some records may need to be kept by law.
Children
RIW Field is for Red Ironworks employees only and is not directed to children.
