Misc. Fabrication / Installation

New York, 2024

Red Ironworks fabricated the monumental, 40-ton feature staircase linking the 56th and 57th floors of the JP Morgan Chase headquarters, utilizing advanced scanning technology to ensure seamless, precision installation in this super tall skyscraper.

About the project

At Red Ironworks, we specialize in fabricating robust steel components that anchor landmark skyscrapers. Our contribution to the JP Morgan Chase headquarters at 270 Park Avenue underscores our precision in high-stakes urban projects.

We supplied handrails and grating for the top-of-house mechanical floors, but our standout achievement was the monumental feature staircase linking the 56th and 57th floors. This 40-ton behemoth—a 6-foot-wide, 200-foot-long curved marvel—features a level midpoint connecting to a sweeping concrete wall. With 4-inch-thick stringers, we handled all in-house milling to join sections seamlessly, fabricating modular pieces for efficient transport.

Leveraging advanced scanning technology, we verified every dimension pre-shipment, eliminating field rework and safeguarding the aggressive schedule. Hoisted skyward by tower crane, the staircase now defines this super tall icon.

Partnering with Banker Steel as main contractor and Tishman as general contractor, we delivered excellence that elevates New York's skyline. Ready to engineer your vision.
